Many persons with Covid-19 find themselves at home, with relatively mild symptoms, and the doctor has not given them any medications. What should you do? What can you take?
See the latest I-MASK+ Prevention & Early Outpatient Treatment Protocol for COVID-19 here.
What To Do
* If you think you have Covid-19, get tested. Call a hospital or clinic, and see a doctor.
* Get plenty of rest.
* Drink plenty of water — 6 to 8 cups of water and other liquids total per day
* Take every necessary precaution to prevent infecting others. Wear a mask. Practice social distancing. Wash your hands. And avoid transferring the virus from one person to another through the objects that you touch.
What To Take
Vitamins
* Vitamin D — If sick with Covid-19, take 50,000 IU of vitamin D3 each day for 6 days (yes, that is fifty thousand international units of vitamin D3 per day for six days), and then reduce to 10,000 IU once a day.
* Vitamin C - 250 mg once or twice a day
* Vitamins K1 and K2 (Mk4) - once a day. The Life Extension “Super K” supplement has vitamin K1 and two types of vitamin K2 (Mk4 and Mk7). Other brands are also acceptable.
* a B-complex vitamin — all the B-vitamins in one pill — once a day
* Vitamin B1 (thiamine) — 50 to 100 mg/day
Minerals
* Selenium 200 micrograms per day
* Zinc - 30 to 50 mg per day
Jarrow “Zinc Balance” has 15 mg zinc and 1 mg copper in each capsule; take two times a day for a total of 30 mg zinc and 2 mg copper per day
Zinc can cause nausea if the dose is too high; if so, divide dose into multiple smaller doses per day.
Other Supplements/Medications
* Famotidine (Pepcid AC or generic) - 40 mg/day to 80 mg/day
* Melatonin - start at 3 mg, work up to 9 or 10 mg; take only once a day, about an hour before bed. May cause weird vivid dreams; sorry about that. Newest research shows that 3 mg every 8 hours (i.e. 3 mg 3x/day) has excellent benefits, and may cut the time you are sick almost in half.
Also take one or more of these supplements:
* Green Tea Extract - 400 mg twice a day - get the “decaffeinated” type, such as “NOW” brand
EGCG and other Catechins inhibit Covid-19 virus
* Quercetin - 250 mg twice a day
Each supplement, green tea extract (containing EGCG) and quercetin, are zinc ionophores. They carry the zinc ions into the cell, where the zinc disrupts the viral replication. And each supplement also attacks the virus on its own, too. You could take either one, or both.
* Nigella sativa seeds or “black seed oil” which is the oil from the seeds. See this post describing a study on honey and nigella sativa for Covid.
.
Prescription Medications
Ask your doctor about:
* Ivermectin - dosage of 0.2 micrograms per kilogram of body weight; increase to 0.3 mg/kg for more serious cases. Typical adult dosage is anywhere from 12 mg to 18 mg to as much as 24 mg per dose. Take one dose of ivermectin per day for at least 2 days up to a maximum of 5 days in a row (unless a doctor says to take it for longer). Ivermectin is used for prevention of Covid-19, or for treatment of Covid-19, or for treatment of LongCovid.

My Dr. prescribed Ivermectin, at my request, but I only got 1 dose. My symptoms have been mild, and I’m on Day 8 of exposure. Will the 1 dose work?
Also, there are trials that will give you an infusion, similar to what Trump got, and they’ll pay you. The day I called, they just stopped for a few days to analyze data.

Many studies of ivermectin only use 1 dose for mild cases and it works fine. I don’t know what to tell you about the medical trial. It’s not a good way to seek treatment, though.

If your doctor won’t prescribe it for you, is there another way to get it?
Is the paste they use for horses the same thing, and is it safe for humans (not appealing, but …)?
Thanks for providing this information!

I read that some countries are giving out Ivermectin as a preventive. After first 2 doses (48 hrs apart), to take a dose bi weekly, or even weekly. Your thoughts?

There are studies on Ivermectin as a preventative measure. In one study, “a prophylactic dose of Ivermectin 12mg every 4 weeks for 4 months” reduced infection rate compared to control group by 90% (i.e. they had one tenth the risk of infection) [1]. Then in a shorter study of just 2 weeks, patients were given 0.4 mg/kg once a week; they had one-fifth the infection rate compared to controls [2].

There are many studies showing ivermectin works, including Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs).
For example:
Niaee, Morteza Shakhsi, et al. “Ivermectin as an adjunct treatment for hospitalized adult COVID-19 patients: A randomized multi-center clinical trial.” (24 Nov. 2020). Study Link
“Conclusion: Ivermectin as an adjunct reduced the rate of mortality, low O2 duration, and duration of hospitalization in adult COVID 19 patients. The improvement of other clinical parameters showed that the ivermectin, with a wide margin of safety, had a high therapeutic effect on COVID-19.”
Also:
Andrew Hill and the International Ivermectin Project Team, “Preliminary meta-analysis of randomized trials of ivermectin to treat SARS-CoV-2 infection.” Research Square Study Link
— “This meta-analysis of 18 RCTs in 2282 patients showed a 75% improvement in survival, faster time to clinical recovery and signs of a dose-dependent effect of viral clearance for patients given ivermectin versus control treatment.”
— “At standard doses, of 0.2-0.4 mg/kg for 1-2 days, ivermectin has a good safety profile and has been distributed to billions of patients worldwide in mass drug administration programs. A recent meta-analysis found no significant difference in adverse events in those given higher doses of ivermectin, of up to 2 mg/kg, and those receiving longer courses, of up to 4 days, compared to those receiving standard doses [201]. Ivermectin is not licensed for pregnant or breast-feeding women, or children <15 kg [i.e. less than 33 lbs]."

Very interesting summaries. Perhaps consider Bromhexine ?

Thank you for compiling this. I’ve been meaning to do this and now that my family has been exposed, my brain has stopped working!

Regarding my comment above, I believe that there is a typo. I believe that the dosage for Ivermectin is 0.2 mg per Kg and not o.2 micro-grams.

The dosing is either 0.2 milligrams or 200 micrograms per kg of body weight. So a 70 kg (154 lb) adult would need:
0.2 mg x 70 = 14 mg
or
200 micrograms x 70 = 14,000 micrograms, which is 14 mg
(I didn’t publish your “comment above” as it contained the discussed error.)
